Our Day Trip
It started off perfect enough. The weather was clear and warm, the drive up to North Cascades National Park is gorgeous and very scenic. We stopped at the picnic area for lunch. Dylan had fun finding rocks and sticks and Maddie just hung out. We stopped in at the visitor center and enjoyed looking at the displays. All was well...or so we thought. We decided to take a loop hike that went down next to the Skagit River. The hike was a little less than 2 miles. Maddie rode in the front pack and Dylan was in the backpack. We went a little ways and Dylan wanted to walk...okay fine. We take him out of the backpack and of course he walks so slow. Then he decides to throw a fit and doesn't want to walk or be carried...ugh! The rest of the hike was pretty much a sprint trying to get back to the car as quick as possible and it felt like an eternity with all the crying going on. So much for hiking. The rest of the day went well because both kids fell asleep in the car! We were a little disappointed that we didn't get to take any other hikes but we were not going to push out luck. Here's some pictures from the trip.
This sort of happened on our trip to Hawaii - we were going to walk the Lava Tubes but Reese feel asleep in the car there after nursing - so Danny walked it alone.
Why do we try to plan stuff . . . it seems silly. But who wants to stay home all the time!!!!
